Latin Dances
Salsa
Salsa is the primary music played at Latin dance clubs. Salsa as a dance is energetic and happy with steps and turns to rhythms of the Caribbean. Salsa refers to a fusion of informal dance styles having roots in the Caribbean namely Cuba, and in Latin America. There is also a strong African influence in the music as well as the dance. Mambo or L.A. style Salsa with Cuban based rhythms is characterized by forward and back steps, right turns, and the cross-body lead. Cumbia started in the northern region of Colombia. Cumbia is a unique style of Salsa characterized by back "breaking" steps with the dancers rotating, turning, and spinning around one another.
Club Latin
Learn the basic steps and turns to Bachata, Merengue, and Cumbia popular dances in Latin Night Clubs. Bachata and Merengue are 2 of the easiest dances to learn. Cumbia is a very popular style of salsa in the Twin Cites Latin dance clubs as well as in Latin America. "Club Latin" will prepare you to dance at the Blue Moon Salsa/Latin dances.
Club ChaCha
